Another Fatal Gang Shooting in Evanston

By Charles Rollet

Javar Bamberg was killed Tuesday morning in Evanston, in what appears to be “a feud between two extended families with gang ties,” as Patch.com reported. Bamberg was 23.

This comes after Justin Murray, a 19-year old, was fatally shot on November 29. The day of Murray’s funeral, a 20-year old man was shot but not killed  on Howard Street in what seems to have been retaliation for Murray’s death.

This year has seen several violent killings in Evanston, with 14-year-old Evanston Township High School student Dajae Coleman being killed on September 22nd in what seems to have been a case of mistaken identity.

Coleman, Murray, and Bamberg were all students or recent graduates of ETHS.

UPDATE: Check out The Daily’s unpacking of the “longstanding family feud” this is all a part of.
